  • Who do you see?
I work with individuals 14+, families and couples. I am licensed in MA and VT, and can also see clients who live in US states without practice exclusivity. As a Ernährungswissenschaftlerin in Germany, I am also able to see German citizens or residents. I can also see US citizens who are studying or traveling abroad.
  • Do you offer free consultations?
I am more than happy to chat via phone about what you're looking for, answer questions you have, and determine if we're a good fit. Just contact me and we can schedule a call! You can email me at kate@katesweeneynutrition.com or call me at 508 560 1550 or 01754193508.
  • What can I expect from working with you?
At our first visit, we will have time to get to know each other and discuss your needs in more detail. We will review your food history, medical history, body image, exercise, lifestyle factors, and current concerns. The first session will be used to start building a therapeutic relationship, help you feel comfortable and relaxed, create an overall goal, and create strategies and a plan for moving forward. Follow ups are made at a frequency that is best for the client. You do not need to commit to a certain number of sessions. Since a full assessment does take a couple of sessions, it is always nice to meet at a frequency that allows for a full assessment while balancing any logistical and financial challenges that may be present; I am very flexible to your needs. Of note, with clients stepping down from a higher level of care for eating disorder treatment or who are struggling with an eating disorder, meeting weekly at the onset is best. After the first few sessions, you and I will review progress and continue discussing how to tailor treatment for maximum benefit with the aim of meeting your goals, whether that is recovery from an eating disorder, managing GI distress, maximizing sports performance, and more. The overall goal is for us to terminate care with you feeling confident about being able to sustain your food, nutrition, exercise and/or body image in a healthy place for you.
  • Do you take insurance?
Since I split my time between Germany and the US, I cannot take insurance in either country at this time. There are many benefits of self-pay services. Immediate appointment possible at this time Number of sessions is unlimited No diagnosis is recorded (a diagnosis won’t go on your permanent insurance record) I can offer a sliding scale If you're in the US, you can certainly use your FSA or HSA card for payment. Also, I can provide a Superbill for insurance reimbursement as an out-of-network provider. Many insurance plans will reimburse partly or fully for nutrition services, especially if you have a PPO plan. I recommend calling your insurance company to ask about out-of-network benefits. I am always happy to help with this process, so please do not hesitate to reach out to me.
  • What is your fee?
I aim to be fair, reasonable, transparent and equitable with fees. I offer a generous sliding scale for clients if finances are challenging. And, I can also provide a Superbill for services if you have US out-of-network insurance benefits for nutrition counseling. Initial sessions (80 min) are $200/145€ and follow up sessions (55-60 min) are $140/95€. Even if you aren't sure you can afford sessions, please contact me. Typically, clients and I work it out to make it financially feasible for them. *I base fees on cost of living, credit card payment service fees, average cost of services in the geographic location of the client, and my business costs. I re-evaluate fees on a yearly basis.
  • Does you being in Germany most of the year change anything for a US client?
No! There is no difference in the treatment I provide or the process for the client, whether I'm sitting in the US or Germany.
